UAE University in Brief

The UAE University (UAEU) in Al Ain was established in 1976 through Federal Law 4, 1976, on the initiative of then President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as a national institution of higher learning for the citizens of the UAE. UAEU’s first class in the 1977/1978 academic year was a modest 502 students enrolled in the University’s four colleges.

 UAEU has since grown to the current nine colleges offering studies at the bachelors, masters, and doctorate level in various fields of study, as well as continuing education programs. UAEU currently has a student population of more than 14,000 students of which 19% are men and 81% are women.

UAEU will continue its positive contribution to the advancement of UAE by delivering undergraduate and graduate education that meets international standards, engaging effectively with the community and the world to foster knowledge creation and dissemination, and enhancing the research capacity of the country.
